4th Annual Wine & Agriculture Tour - Please join us for the 4th Annual Wine & Agriculture Tour on August 17th, 2013 hosted by the Umpqua Soil & Water Conservation District. Transportation will include pick up from sites in both Reedsport and Elkton. The Elkton Community Education Center will provide our lunch with a variety of sandwiches, chips, cookies, and beverages. Tsalila Festival - A year round program that connects people with the history and environment of the Umpqua River watershed. The Umpqua SWCD contributes to Tsalila Education Days which teaches children grades 1-6 about natural and cultural resources regarding the Umpqua River watershed. Each year the Umpqua SWCD hosts a fun, hands-on educational booth for 3rd grade students aptly named “The Bug Zone” where the Umpqua SWCD teaches students about benthic macro invertebrates or water bugs describing why these bugs are good for the ecosystem.

STEP Salmon Derby - Sponsored by Gardiner/Reedsport STEP (Salmon-Trout Enhancement Program) this event is timed to coincide with the fall Chinook salmon run. Daily prizes awarded for the biggest salmon. Local tackle shops have registration forms and rules.

Noxious Weed and Tide Gate Projects - We are starting two new projects this summer. One focuses on identifying large infestations of noxious weeds and mapping out sites for future eradication efforts. The other project is locating and monitoring tide gates for proper function.
